South Asian Islam versus the American South Asian Islam

A very interesting post showing how a wonderful lovely faith has changed when the same people move to another country. I quote:

After reading through a number of works discussing South Asian Islamic history, and also many of the references, I have thought a lot more deeply about the traditions of South Asian culture than my last series of posts on this subject. Every time I read the numerous moving stories, I have marveled at how totally lost Muslim South Asians, especially ex-patriots and their children, have become from their traditional past. While the first Masjid in India was built in Kodungallur by Malik Bin Deenar(R), a Sahabi (during the Prophet’s (S) lifetime), it certainly seems that most of what occurred after that point has been forgotten by South Asian Muslims living abroad.

Criminalise forced marriage? You bet!

When I read this, I was nodding in approval. Forced marriages are a blot on society and no culture can agree or approve this to be done to their children. I quote the main proposals:

• increasing the minimum age for any spouse coming to Britain and their British partner to 21 to ensure they are old enough to make such a big decision;


• making the groom and bride take part in private and separate interviews to check they are happy with the proposed marriage;


• demanding that every spouse who comes to Britain has basic English;


• making every prospective British spouse who intends to marry abroad register before leaving the country. They would be asked to provide the name of their intended spouse and be given a deadline by which time the marriage must take place

Lets not forget that its not the children who are frequently at fault, its the parents and relatives, they need to be brought into the ambit of this proposal as well.

Gulf Arabs are lazy and will get drowned in the Asian Tsunami

A great post here. Read it fully. Mind you, something that the author has not considered is the fact that the fertility rates across the Arab lands is dropping dramatically, with certain countries such as Tunisia now approaching European levels. In other words, the fertility is below replacement rate and other things being equal, the Arabs will disappear in due course of time (to be replaced by??). So keep the women in ignorance and have a high birth rate. Educate them and watch the generations squish down.

It will apply inordinate political and cultural influence by virtue of the millions of its citizens gaining citizenships, or even just continuing to live and work in our countries without any measure of control and without investing in the local population’s education and rehabilitation. Al-Jamri suggests that India’s political influence might well develop into making our countries a part of a “Commonwealth of India” soon, as its former citizens will gain positions of responsibility in both private and public sectors, even rising to ministerial positions within the Cabinet.

Many Asians 'do not feel British'

This is such a big pile of poo that this makes me sick. I shot off an email to the BBC but not sure whether they will publish this.

"This is so absolute rot.

1. Who are South Asians? I dont believe I know that country or nationality. Anybody who says I am a South Asian is a geographically challenged and illiterate person who needs to go back to school. There are nations in South Asia and countries.

2. We are all british now. Ask the number of white british people who are emigrating, that % is much higher. So this question is again extremely silly. Who is actually deciding these questions? and why is my licence fees being used for this intellectually incoherent and illogical exercise?

3. I have been a citizen of this country for years and years, and have lived in this country for about 20 years. My children are British, my pension is british, i am a highest rate taxpayer. I speak English fluently, vote regularly and complain about the NHS and the weather. I have never faced racism in this country and in fact, I think the majority of the UK are far too sensitive to colour. Stop this nonsense. "

These people are purposefully creating problems where none exist. And where there IS a problem, they hide it. I am NOT SOUTH ASIAN. I am BRITISH. I owe loyalty to this country, queen and political system. If I am going to be typified, then call me a BRITISHER of INDIAN extraction. I do NOT want to be associated with Pakistan, Afganistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh or what have you. This makes me absolutely violently sick and upset.
