Mobile phones and mobile communication technology is leapfrogging landline and old telecom technology (see the above photo of an Egyptian Telecom Land Line junction box being fixed in Egypt, no attribution unfortunately so if it is copywrited, please write to me and i will take it down). there are very good reasons for it, specially in emerging countries and lesser developed countries.
