India suffered a spate of terrorist bombings over the past few years, most recently in Hyderabad where 42 people were killed. The Indian Government's reaction was typical, run around like headless chickens, blame Pakistan and Bangladesh based militants, charge some poor sods and after 20 million years, release the charged suspects (mostly) because of false accusations, lack of evidence.... or the charged suspects die in jail without coming to trial or very rare, the suspects are jailed as they have been found guilty.
Because of the history of India, Indian Muslims are always looked upon with suspicion by a certain segment of society, and riots are frequent. Actually the unattributed terrorist bombing is a very good technique for creating chasms in the pluralistic multicultural secular framework of India. When suspicion arises, community withdraw into their little walled houses and the country rots away from the middle.
I wrote on my weekly blog about how the Hindutva lot look at Muslims, but here is a sort of a counter point from an Indian Muslim. The questions which he is asking are very curious, and are almost like which comes from a whining kid. But I would presume he is serious which makes the questions very strange.
I would not go deeper into the questions as the overall impression I am getting is that the chap is a conspiracy theorist. The next nail in the coffin was how he compared the Indian situation to Zionism and Israel which immediately tells me that he does not know about the Israeli - Palestinian situation nor does he know about how the counter - terrrorism efforts/process works.
His questions linking Kashmiri militants to attacks in South India are unfortunately symtomatic of the fact that he is unable to see the links between the Pakistani and Bangaldeshi agencies/groups and these attacks. Unfortunate. More importantly, he ends with saying, "We need to find the answer as to why these incidents have started happening in different parts of India all of sudden in last 10-15 years."
He still needs to know the answer? I am afraid India is in deeper trouble because if he does not know where and how the Pakistani Intelligence and internal terrorist groups are working, then no wonder such silly and strange questions are being asked. Winning the hearts and minds of such people is going to be far more difficult, I am afraid.
All this to be taken with a grain of piquant salt!!!
