In many ways, policemen are more important than soldiers

Read this interesting story and wonder as to the courage and abilities of these Indian policewomen. I quote:

India readied a second contingent of crack policewomen today to be sent to Liberia as part of United Nations (UN) peacekeeping operations in the war-ravaged country, officials said.
The 125-member team will replace an equal number of women who flew to the west African state in January last year as peacekeepers - the first time the UN had deployed an all-female unit.

A number of the policewomen have worked in Kashmir, where fighting between Islamic guerrillas and Indian troops has claimed more than 44,000 lives since 1989. And some also have experience in jungle warfare from battling Indian Maoist guerrillas, the CRPF spokesman added.
India is a longtime contributor to UN peacekeeping missions and has sent women as part of earlier units. But the UN has hailed India’s decision to deploy female officers in policing as "unprecedented."

All this to be taken with a grain of piquant salt!!!
