WCIT 2008 - Thursday

This was the trip to Cyberjaya and Putrajaya. Cyberjaya is the place where the offshoring ITO, BPO and KPO firms have setup business while Putrajaya is the place where the new administrative capital of Malaysia has been setup.

The trip started with a visit to the local hotel. This is the place where the Malaysian APEC meeting was held. How does it look, eh? to be standing in the footsteps of Mahatir Mohammad and Al Gore? :) Click on the thumbnail to check out a bigger resolution picture.

Then a time capsule was created where loads of digital artifacts were created and uploaded, this will be locked and kept till 2020 in the lobby of the MDEC when it will be opened up. Interesting concept of the time capsule! Then a row of buses took us around the township, and it was quite impressive to say the least.

That is Mahatir Mohammad's house. For various reasons, I found the location a bit cynical and perhaps a bit sad, all that huge admiration for his statesmanship and politics, his undoubted work to bring Malaysia up to scratch and now he is an old lonely abandoned man who is powerlessly flailing around at the loss of his power.

Here is the interior of the bus, we were videoed as well! :), nice bus.

The highways and the surroundings were spotlessly clean and landscaped, very impressive housekeeping.

This is, believe it or not, a police station. This is so futuristic!, unbelievable indeed.

This is the HSBC Bank building, supposedly one of the most advanced buildings in the world in terms of energy efficiency and security.

This is the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology. The place has other universities as well as schools, very good linking of everything that is needed to create a flourishing township.

The sign is for Monster.com but found it funny that it indicated that monsters should undertake a U Turn! :)

A nice impressive building and now I have forgotten what it is. I think it is the Putrajaya convention centre but could be wrong.

A government building in Putrajaya

  A very impressive gate.

This is, I believe, the High or Supreme Court of Malaysia. Quite an impressive building.

This is a view up the main avenue of Putrajaya looking up at the Prime Minister's Office at the top.

This is the official mosque

This is another view of the PM's office but the car has a sign which says, Marlboro sold here, amusing.

A winding road around the PM's office.

Nice lampposts

The highway system is amazing, zip zip zip and you are between the 3 townships and the main city centre. Brilliant town planning.

A view of a road in front of a HSBC bank branch, i was left all alone there and my limo driver got lost 3 times. It was interesting to say the least.

I went shopping in the evening in the mall below the twin towers and here's a view of the garden at the bottom.
