As you know, I was raised as a Hindu and cremation as an end of life rite is no surprise to me.
There are quite a lot of issues with cremation, ranging from cutting down rare and valuable trees, to global warming to immersion of ashes in rivers...
But as it turns out, cremation is absolutely not allowed in Israel. Very contentious in Israel, but one wonders to what extent would an overtly religious country co-exist with liberalism, secularism, democracy and Universal Declarations of Human Rights? This tension will always be present, whether in Israel, Pakistan, UK and Saudi Arabia.
