I nearly fell off the planet when I read this. Sarko's fight against the unions is something that is good and I have mentioned this before. But when i read in the FT that French commuters are actually demostrating against the Unions, I felt good. This battle has to be fought if France can fight the 21st century economic war. I quote:
Frustrated commuters staged demonstrations in Paris yesterday to protest at the continuing transport strike as rail unions voted to extend their industrial action for another 24 hours.
Waving placards calling for an end to "the dictatorship of unions", a crowd of between 3,000 and 10,000 people braved freezing temperatures to denounce the spread of strikes that blocked public transport for five days.
And the fact that his popularity is dipping is ok, reality is always different from the promise. But he has a mandate from the French people, go Sarko go!
All this to be taken with a grain of piquant salt!!!
