British Legal Watchdog accused of discrimination and racism

Now this is indeed worrisome. The foundations of a good state relies on the legal system and the guardians and main users of this legal system are the lawyers. If they themselves think that their main body is racist, then there is something seriously wrong.

I quote:

The Association of Muslim Lawyers (AML) and the Society of Black Lawyers have obtained figures that show that the Law Society’s regulatory arm is more than twice as likely to investigate misconduct allegations against ethnic minority solicitors than it is against white lawyers. They claim that the disproportionate attention is fuelled by discrimination, rather than by suspect practices.

The differences do look suspect indeed, and the reasoning given (minorities are more apt to setup smaller firms or sole partnerships and therefore can lead to more "rule breaking") is very thin. Have they compared the ratio of white small firms/sole partnerships to minority small firm/sole partnership and the proportion of misconduct allegation? It is my firm belief that they will see that the group behaviour is replicated when atomised a bit more.

I also want to know the behaviour of the misconduct allegations based upon other minorities such as Chinese and Indians before taking this forward. It is indeed possible that the fault line is not down the minority line if the Chinese and Indian solicitor misconduct %'s are different.

The government and the law society should take this very seriously, this can cause more lasting damage to the British state than 10 separate British Jihadi attacks!
